FAQ
Why should you choose me to preserve your flowers in resin?
Choosing me means entrusting your flowers to someone deeply committed to quality, craftsmanship, and excellence. I meticulously research and source the best products on the market to ensure a lasting, vibrant result. Each flower receives individual attention and care, and I dedicate the time needed to capture its beauty. I constantly upskill, learning from the very best in the industry, and hold myself to the highest standards. With me, you're not just getting a resin piece—you're receiving a true work of art that preserves your memories in the most stunning, enduring way possible.
Why should I preserve my flowers in resin rather than a pressed frame?
Here are five compelling reasons to choose resin for preserving your flowers:
1. Three-Dimensional Beauty: Unlike pressed frames, resin preservation captures your flowers in a lifelike, 3D form, keeping the original shape and detail of each petal and bloom. This method lets you enjoy the full essence of your bouquet as if it were freshly picked.
2. Enhanced Longevity: Resin acts as a protective seal, shielding your flowers from dust, moisture, and UV exposure. With the right care, resin-preserved flowers can last for decades, while pressed flowers, even when framed, are more vulnerable to fading and deterioration over time.
3. True-to-Life Colours: Resin allows for colour correction and retains the vibrant, natural tones of your flowers. Pressed flowers often lose some of their brightness during the flattening and drying process, but resin helps preserve the true colours, keeping your flowers looking fresh for years.
4. Greater Versatility: Resin preservation offers endless creative options, from custom shapes to jewellery pieces, decorative coasters, and keepsakes. In contrast, pressed frames are limited to flat displays and may not offer the same versatility in showcasing your flowers.
5. Minimal Maintenance: Resin pieces require little to no upkeep, staying beautiful without the need for constant cleaning or special handling. Pressed flowers in frames are more delicate and may need careful attention to keep dust-free and protected from humidity.
By choosing resin, you're investing in a preservation method that captures the vivid details and shapes of your flowers, ensuring they remain a lasting and lifelike memento of your special moments.
Why should I preserve my flowers?
Your flowers are a powerful reflection of your personality, style, and the story you and your partner share. Alongside your wedding rings and photographs, preserved flowers are one of the few tangible mementos you can keep forever. These three treasures—rings, photos, and flowers—are lasting reminders of your wedding day, while everything else fades: the music, food, drinks, and decor. By preserving your flowers, you capture a piece of the day's beauty that you can look at every day, keeping those memories alive for a lifetime.
How far in advance should I book?
As soon as you know you'd like to preserve your flowers, it's best to secure your booking. Flower preservation is a detailed and time-sensitive process that requires careful planning, resources, and preparation to ensure we give your bouquet the best possible chance of becoming a beautiful keepsake. The earlier we begin, the more time we have to work together on flower selection, coordinating with your florist to make sure they are aware of the preservation plans.
For memorial reservations, I understand timing can be especially sensitive, so please don't hesitate to reach out at any point. I'm here to support you during this difficult time.
How do I get my bouquet to you?
The best option is face-to-face delivery or collection. I'm based in Edenderry and often work in Dublin, so we can arrange a meet-up point or see if a guest is traveling closer to my location. A collection fee typically ranges from €30 to €80, depending on the distance.
Alternatively, you can safely post your bouquet to me. Postage is usually reliable, and I've created a page called Posting Your Bouquet with visual and detailed instructions to guide you. It's ideal that your flowers reach me within five days of the wedding, as they're often cut five days before the event, so time is of the essence!
Do you accept last-minute orders?
I completely understand that wedding planning is a lot, and flower preservation may not always be top of mind. I will do my best to accommodate you, as it's truly disappointing when couples miss the chance to preserve their flowers.
However, please be aware that I may not always have the resources or time available to take in a last-minute bouquet. If additional materials are needed for your bouquet, there will be a drying fee of €50 for half a bouquet or €100 for a full bouquet and additional flowers.
What is the turnaround time?
Currently, the turnaround time for preserving your flowers is between four and six months. This allows for the delicate drying and setting process, ensuring your flowers are preserved beautifully for years to come.
What are the payment terms?
Starting January 2025, a 25% deposit will be required to secure your booking date, along with any applicable collection fee. The remaining balance will be due once you've approved the mock design and I begin the pouring process.
For orders arranged in 2024, any previously agreed payment terms will still apply. All payments should be completed before the final piece is ready for collection or delivery.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, for orders placed in 2024, a 40% deposit was required. From January 2025 onward, a 25% deposit will be required to secure your booking. You can pay via Revolut, AIB bank transfer, PayPal, or I can send you a secure Square payment link for convenience.
Is there a minimum order?
I don't have a minimum order, so you're welcome to request smaller items like a ring holder, a set of coasters, or bookmarks. However, for these smaller pieces, I won't be able to take in a full bouquet, as preserving, storing, and processing an entire bouquet is quite time-intensive. If you're working with a smaller budget, please send just a select few flowers rather than the whole bouquet. This way, I can still create a beautiful keepsake for you without the extensive work of preserving every flower. If you send in a large amount of flowers these will be returned or dried at additional cost.
Can all flowers be preserved?
No, not all flowers preserve well. That's why it's important to contact me in advance with your inspiration flowers so we can work together to select alternatives that preserve beautifully. If you're considering any unusual flowers, please reach out, as some types (like Lilies, which are common but tricky to preserve) may require special care or alternatives.
Can I add non-flower items to my piece?
Yes, you can include small non-flower items, such as your bouquet ribbon, pearls, charms, or rosary beads. However, I generally don't recommend adding photos, as they have a high risk of fading or discoloring over time during the resin curing process. Invitations are usually safer, as I can laminate and seal them, but please note that adding photos still involves acknowledging the risk of potential changes over time.
Do you work with faux flowers?
Yes, I'm happy to work with faux flowers! Just message me in advance, and we can discuss your vision. A fabulous faux bouquet transformed into a resin piece makes a lasting statement that can even be passed down through generations.
Do you work with air-dried or older flowers?
Yes, we can absolutely create beautiful artwork with air-dried flowers. Some may need a bit of colour correction or TLC to restore their vibrancy, but they can still be transformed into unique pieces. Feel free to send a picture along with your vision and inspiration, and we'll take it from there!
What if my bouquet is all white?
Yes, I can work with all-white flowers. However, I highly recommend adding a mix of textures and a hint of light colour for depth and a balanced composition. Keep in mind that nearly all white flowers naturally come in shades of ivory, cream, and light beige—tones that can add subtle beauty to your piece. Embracing these natural hues often creates a richer result, but if desired, I can provide a light restoration for added brightness at an additional cost of €20.00 per stem.
Is my piece heat resistant?
Yes, your piece is heat resistant to a degree. After a full 21-day cure, the resin can handle temperatures up to 93°C. At this temperature, the piece may become slightly flexible but will harden again as it cools. Everyday heat, like from a hot mug, won't damage the resin surface of coasters or similar items. However, please keep in mind that resin is not flame-resistant, so avoid exposing it to open flames or extreme heat.
Will the resin yellow over time?
All resins on the market will eventually yellow to some degree over time. However, I use a high-quality resin with advanced non-yellowing technology, crafted from conservation-grade materials. Unlike many resins that only rely on a UV stabilizer, the resin I use combines this with a high-performance additive, known as a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS), to maintain clarity for decades. This helps keep your piece looking beautiful and clear for as long as possible.
Will there be bubbles in my resin piece?
I take great pride in my craftsmanship, constantly researching and innovating to deliver top-quality results. Using premium products in a temperature-controlled studio, I aim to create pieces with minimal to no bubbles. However, because resin cures over 72 hours, there's a small chance bubbles may form during this process. After the first few hours, adjustments aren't possible, especially with topcoats. That said, I'm confident in my skills and can assure you that I strive for bubble-free pieces, setting a high standard for resin art in Ireland.
Can I order something from you that has sold out?
Yes, absolutely—please get in touch! I'll do my best to recreate a similar piece for you. While no two petals are exactly the same, I work with fantastic florists across the country, so I can usually source most flowers to capture the same look and feel.
Can you recreate my bouquet?
If you missed the chance to preserve your original flowers, I'd love to help recreate your bouquet. Just reach out, and we can work together to bring your vision to life. All I need are plenty of photos from your special day, and I'll take care of sourcing similar flowers. This approach is more affordable, and with careful arrangement, we can craft a beautiful new masterpiece that captures the essence of your original bouquet.
Do you offer colour correction?
Yes, I do! Some flowers benefit from a bit of colour correction, especially after all the handling they go through—often harvested 5-7 days before your wedding, transported, and handled in various ways. While I embrace the natural beauty and transformations of flowers, please remember that they will naturally change during the drying process and once they're set in resin. Colour correction can help maintain vibrant colours for years to come and is a great option if you want to keep your piece looking as fresh as possible. This service is available at €20 per stem and can also help conceal any bruising or imperfections.
Do you use all the flowers I give you?
I carefully select the best flowers from your bouquet to create your final piece. Any remaining flowers may be returned to you at no extra cost, though this isn't always possible. My goal is to ensure your artwork is crafted from the highest-quality blooms while making the most of what you provide.
Will my flowers look the same as the day of the event?
No, your flowers will not look exactly the same as the day of the event. Flowers naturally change shape and color during the dehydration process, and again during the design and final resin application. However, we strive to make them look as close as possible to their original appearance. We encourage you to embrace these natural changes, as they add character and uniqueness to each arrangement.
Will my earrings last forever?
While your earrings won't last forever, they will last a long time with proper care and storage. They are splash - proof, but please keep them out of swimming pools and avoid submerging them in water for extended periods.
It is best to store them away from direct sunlight, as natural light can cause colors to fade over time. With the right care, you can enjoy your earrings for many years!
What is your refund and return policy?
Due to the custom nature of each piece and the time and resources invested, we do not accept refunds or returns. However, if you're unhappy with your piece, please reach out to me. I'll be happy to discuss whether your concerns are a natural expectation for a handmade item. I maintain open communication throughout the process and trust that we can address any issues together.
Additionally, if any of my jewelry pieces or earrings break, please contact me, and I'll be glad to repair them free of charge, with the cost of postage covered by you.
